Mouzon-Leroux, L’Atavique, Tradition Brut Nature Champagne NV
Sébastien Mouzon's L'Atavique cuvée is remarkably complex and reflects the uniqueness of Verzy's austere, limestone terroir. It also represents the estate's commitment to biodynamics and respect for the terroir.
This cuvée combines 65% Pinot Noir, which provides structure and vinosity, and 35% Chardonnay, which brings finesse and freshness. All the grapes come exclusively from the Grand Cru terroir of Verzy in the Montagne de Reims.
A quarter of this cuvée is vinified in oak barrels and 75% in small vats. Malolactic fermentation is carried out to limit the addition of sulfur. The dosage is Extra Brut (3 g/l).
L'Atavique is a champagne with a rich nose, evoking dried fruits, candied citrus, and spices.
On the palate, this is a vintage that offers beautiful tension, and a long finish with hints of white fruits.
